Blackbird Yoga opens in Webster Groves with hot, warm, and beginner-friendly classes

Blackbird Yoga adds classes, wellness services, and community space to a growing stretch of women-owned businesses.

On a stretch of Big Bend Boulevard in Webster Groves, an ecosystem is taking shape. Independent shops, many of them women-owned, are creating a walkable pocket of small-business energy—part retail, part gathering space. Blackbird Yoga, a studio that opened this month, is the latest addition.

Located at 7930 Big Bend Boulevard, the studio offers a mix of hot, warm and non-heated yoga classes designed to meet people wherever they are in their practice. For newcomers, slower-paced classes such as Slow Flow provide an accessible entry point, while heated sessions in the studio’s larger room bring temperatures up to 95 degrees for a more intense experience.

Inside, Blackbird is divided into two distinct spaces. The main studio, Horizon, can accommodate up to 27 mats and serves as the hub for group classes. A second, more intimate space called Haven expands the studio’s focus beyond traditional yoga, hosting physical therapy sessions, small-group and individual yoga for teens, and one-on-one sound bath experiences.

That mix reflects a broader shift in how wellness spaces are evolving. Studios are becoming less about a single modality and more about offering layered support for both physical and mental health.

For founder Lauren Milford, the decision to open in Webster Groves was as much about the surrounding community as the space itself.

“Webster Groves has such a special energy, and we knew this was exactly where Blackbird needed to be,” she said in a press release. “There is something truly special happening here, and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Within a few storefronts, visitors can move from a bookstore to a chocolate shop to a candle studio, with each contributing to a neighborhood that feels intentionally built. Blackbird adds a wellness-focused piece to that mix, with services that extend beyond the mat and into everyday life.

The studio officially opened April 11. A Launch Pass for new clients includes three weeks of unlimited yoga for $59, and a monthly membership runs $149 per month.
