St. Louis restaurant openings, closings, and coming soons

The following information is accurate as of an early-May press date.

Three closings and 16 openings made for a heckuva good restaurant month in St. Louis. We lament the sudden closure of The Shaved Duck and are sending well wishes to Vincent Van Doughnut‘s Mike McKinlay. On the brighter side, three new Mexican restaurants debuted (Oaxaca Margarita Bar, Huatulco Mexican Bar & Grill, and the new Rosalita’s Cantina in O’Fallon, Missouri), along with Shorty’s Diner (serving breakfast and lunch daily in Westport). The area also welcomed its first CAVA Mediterranean Grill in Cottleville. Meanwhile, video gamers of all ages are flocking to the Sonic The Hedgehog Speed Cafe pop-up inside Nudo House on Delmar, which is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily through June 28.

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to reflect that Capriotti’s is opening at 12536-B Olive, near the Jet’s Pizza location at 12536-E Olive in Creve Coeur, which remains open. The pizza chain also plans to open a new location at 8824 Manchester in Brentwood in early June.
