As St. Louis cyclists know, few things pair as perfectly as a scenic bike ride and a cold beer. Now, Perennial Artisan Ales is embracing that connection with its latest project: Perennial on the Trail (801 S. Holmes). Slated to open alongside Grant’s Trail in Kirkwood next spring, it will offer a curated beer, whiskey, and cocktail menu.

The concept marks a new chapter for Perennial and its sister brand, Common Ritual Whiskey. Perennial on the Trail will showcase both the brewery’s beer offerings and Common Ritual’s whiskeys. An expanded lineup of Perennial beers will be on tap, including a possible site-exclusive brew. Common Ritual will also step into the spotlight with signature cocktails, whiskey tastings, and educational programming—a first for the brand.

“Our South City location has been established for 13 years as Perennial, so Common Ritual will always be viewed by most as something that’s just available on the side,” says co-owner Phil Wymore. “We wanted to establish something new that can feature both brands equally.”
The idea for Perennial on the Trail took shape after Pedego Electric Bikes announced the closure of its Kirkwood space. Wymore saw the perfect opportunity. “The lightbulb went off,” he says. After a conversation with the shop’s owner, plans were set in motion for what’s now a highly anticipated destination for locals and trail-goers alike.
“We’re excited to become part of the Oakland/Kirkwood community,” Wymore adds. “We’ve built two great brands, and we’re looking forward to sharing them with more people.”
