As the holiday festivities begin, plan ahead for some ease on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day by crossing cooking off your to-do list. Below is a list of restaurants and caterers offering holiday specials this year. CARRYOUT
The South City barbecue joint is offering multiple meats and specials for preorder this holiday season. The Santa Special includes a whole brisket, two bottles of sauce, 18 buns, and four quarts of sides, while the Santa Supreme contains a large brisket, three half-gallons of sides, 24 buns, and three bottles of sauce. Combo meals are also available. Bogart’s is offering its smoked bacon-wrapped ham this holiday season. Each ham feeds about 10–12 people and is $70 per piece. Orders must be placed by December 17, and orders can be picked up December 21 to Christmas Eve from 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m. 314-621-3107.
The local restaurant is offering holiday brunch and dinner orders for pickup or delivery on or before Christmas Eve. The brunch menu is $675 and serves 10–12 people, featuring a choice of items such as cinnamon rolls, red velvet cheesecake bread pudding, and grilled ham steaks. The dinner menu is $700 and serves 10–12 people, featuring a choice of items such as spinach and artichoke dip, honey roasted carrots, or citrus roasted pork loin. The Dogtown bakery is offering a variety of Christmas treats this year, such as a Christmas sugar cookie trio, 12-inch snowman cookie cake, and a spiced pecan. Prices vary, and items are limited. The bakery is open until noon on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day. 1420 Tamm, 314-647-6000.
Naughty flavors include such options as Boozy Banana Rum, Flirty Shirley, and Mango Tequila Lime. Nice flavors are handcrafted with scratch ingredients, featuring flavors such as Banoffee, Halva Chocolate Cherry, and Malted Raspberry Crunch. Order a four-, six-, or 12-pint pack. All locations.
Dalie's offers a smoked turkey breast and bacon-wrapped ham this Christmas. The turkey feeds five to seven people and is $52, while the ham feeds eight to 10 and is $70. The popular, locally-owned Italian restaurant will be offering its traditional menu on Christmas eve until 3 p.m. for dine-in and 4 p.m. for carry-out. Volume is heavy at the holidays, so it's best to call 314-962-0048 a few days ahead to guarantee availability. Preorder your holiday feast for pickup on December 23 or 24. The prime rib feast serves six people and costs $199.95. It includes prime rib with au jus and horseradish sauce, Parmesan mashed potatoes, salad, asparagus, pineapple brown sugar cake, and bread with whipped butter. In need of desserts for Christmas dinner? Check out KNEAD, which offers such desserts as dark chocolate cake, cranapple pie, and assorted Christmas cookies available for pre-order. The Italian kitchen’s Christmas meal features chicken piccata or chicken marsala, rigatoni with meat sauce, rigatoni with white sauce, house salad, cheese garlic bread, and cannoli. The Italian chains offers a Holiday Carryout Bundle, with Caesar salad, Mom’s Lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, chicken piccata, chocolate layered cake, butter cake, lemon cookies, and ciabatta bread. The bakery offers a variety of baked goods, such as cookies, pies, and cakes, in seasonal flavors, such as orange ricotta bundt, chocolate salted caramel tart, and walnut-chocolate-bourbon pie. The catering company offers a a traditional holiday buffet for $22.95 per person and a holiday feast buffet for $27.95 per person. The local bakery offers a variety of desserts and baked goods for Christmas this year, including quiche, decorated Christmas cookies, and a variety of pies. A Christmas tradition in households across the U.S. and Mexico, handmade tamales are available for the holiday from Taqueria Morita in University City. Choose from poblano pepper and Oaxaca cheese, or beef barbacoa with ancho chili mojo. Eight fully cooked tamales (4 servings) are $35 and come with cumin cream, house made chips, and tatemada (classic charred) salsa. House made guacamole also available. White Box is offering two holiday specials. The Holiday Brunch options offers a choice of five items from scrambled eggs, cheesy hashbrown casserole, breakfast meats, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt parfait, mini quiche, waggles, cinnamon rolls, and cronut holes. Among the options for the Holiday Heat & Serve: brown sugar ham, rosemary lemon salmon, or orange cranberry chicken with sides of garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potato pecan casserole, parmesan pesto cauliflower, green bean casserole, berry spinach salad, honey cream corn, white cheddar macaroni and cheese, or broccoli salad with a dessert. The Crestwood spot has put together a holiday menu for Christmas, with such seasonal desserts as sticky buns, key lime pie, butter cake, double fudge cake, blueberry coffee cake, and holiday cookie cake. Yolklore also offers a Take N Bake Brunch, complete with bacon, Buttonwood Farm eggs, fruit, coffee, milk, and sticky buns that feeds four to six people. The Fenton restaurant's December menu include a Cubano sandwich (made with pulled pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and honey mustard in a hoagie), Monster Stuffed Potato (stuffed with butter, cheddar cheese, pulled pork, and bacon, smothered in barbecue sauce or barbecue honey stingin’ garlic sauce), a shrimp cocktail (served with cocktail sauce), guacamole Wontons (stuffed with guacamole and served with salsa or your choice of sauce), and Spicy Fried Pickle Fries (fried in a spicy cornmeal batter and served with horsey sauce or ranch). The restaurant at Union Station offers its holiday two-course meal December 24–26. It includes a Landry’s house salad and either seafood-stuffed salmon with lemon butter and seasonal accompaniments for $34.59 or an 8-ounce filet mignon and shrimp scampi with garlic butter and mashed potatoes for $55. The holiday menu features the return of a three-course Chateaubriand meal with a winter green salad; a choice of creamed spinach, jumbo grilled asparagus, sauteed garlic green beans, baked corn soufflé, or sour cream mashed potatoes; and sticky toffee bread pudding, hot chocolate cake, or bruléed cheesecake.
