The popular pide at Balkan Treat Box, recently nominated by Bon Appétit as one of the best new restaurants in the U.S.
On Thursday, Condé Nast Traveler published a story that answered the question "Why St. Louis Needs to Be Your Next Weekend Getaway." Writer Melissa Kravitz crisscrossed the city, hitting up all the tried-and-true destinations like the Arch, Saint Louis Zoo, and City Museum. (Time for Kids, too, recently named City Museum as one of its 2019 coolest places.)
But what really stands out are the seven restaurants Kravitz calls out as "trendy, accessible—and most importantly—fairly priced."
Union Loafers, whose pizza she says could take on a New York slice, was starred for its all-day dining options. Kravitz highlighted Louie's slick bar and pasta-focused offerings. Michael and Tara Gallina, of Vicia, get a special recognition, Michael having left St. Louis and returned here, as so many of us do. (Have you tried Vicia's turnip-shell tacos?) Nick Bognar's Indo and Clementine's Creamery—which was recently named to Oprah's "O List—and Gerard Craft's Cinder House made the cut. And Kravitz named Balkan Treat Box, which graced the cover of St. Louis Magazine's May issue, as a great lunch option...until, she writes, "the food runs out, around 3 p.m. daily."
You heard it from Traveler: If you haven't visited these seven spots, there's still plenty of time in 2019 to cross them off your list.
