Perhaps it should as no surprise, but City Museum has cooked up a couple off-beat experiences this season. “Misfit Holidays” at the museum, December 11–13 and December 17–19, will offer a holiday bar for ages 21 and over and a cereal bar for families.
The museum came up with the concept especially for those who “march to the beat of a different drummer,” says City Museum's Ashley Turigliatto. “We’re all a bunch of misfits here at City Museum, and we want to spend the holidays with our people! Truly, it’s been a hard couple of years, and a lot of us are feeling a little out of place. But here at the Misfit Holiday Bar, you’ll be surrounded by weirdos just like you.”
Located in a log cabin on the first floor of the City Museum, the holiday bar will serve specialty cocktails created by food and beverage director Eric Delmez, who also designed the glassware. They include a range of options:
- The Abominable Boot: A blend of RumChata, Disarrono Amaretto, Butterscotch Schnapps, ice cream, and spices served in a glass boot and topped with whipped cream and a RumChata shooter cupcake from Jilly’s (pictured at right)
- The Red Nosed Reindeer: With Tattersal cranberry liqueur, Makers Mark bourbon, bitters, sweet vermouth, and a splash of club soda
- The Peppermint Prospector: With hot cocoa, whipped cream vodka, Kahlua, and candy cane Schnapps, served in a mug and topped with whipped cream, peppermint crunch, and a candy cane
- Santa’s Remedy: A mulled wine with Proverb Merlot and E&J apple brandy slow-simmered in a custom blend of mulling spices and citrus
- The Poinsetta: With Tattersall Cranberry and sparkling wine
- Orange Chocolate Truffle: With hot chocolate, a splash of Tattersall Orange Crème, and whipped cream on top
- Black Forest: A decadent cocktail with black raspberry Chambord, white crème de cacao, and Tito’s Vodka
- Fragile Baby: With coffee, Frangelico, and Bailey’s Irish Cream
The museum will also offer a non-alcoholic hot cocoa bar and a s’mores kit, so visitors can make sweet treats at outdoor fire pits.

Early risers and families can visit a cereal bar at the museum to get in the holiday spirit. The bar has unlimited servings of seven types of cereal, a variety of milk (including whole milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, and soy and oat milks for non-dairy drinkers), and coffee for adults. Holiday movies will be playing near the cereal bar. Families can also build and decorate cardboard gingerbread houses and play with Christmas inflatables. Attendees are encouraged but not required to wear pajamas.
The holiday bar runs from noon–9 p.m. on December 10 and noon–11 p.m. on December 11, 17, and 18. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.
The cereal bar will take place 10 AM to 2 PM on Sunday, December 12, and December 19. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
