Sunday brunch is always a treat, but it’s even better when it’s for a good cause.
Socially minded St. Louisans can attend the Brunch of Champions from Missouri LGBTQ+ advocacy organization PROMO on October 16 from 9:30 a.m.–noon at 4 Hands Brewing Co. (1220 S. 8th), after a two-year hiatus for the event during the pandemic.
The Menu
The menu will include biscuits, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches with vegan and vegetarian options from Honey Bee’s Biscuits and Good Eats. Brunch will also include a mimosa toast and open bar with cocktails crafted from 1220 Spirits and beers from 4 Hands.
Seating will not be assigned—a choice made to foster dialogue between attendees. “Our goal this year is to allow people to mix and mingle more to build that sense of community while showcasing that each of us is not alone in our fight for equality here in Missouri," says PROMO communications director Robert Fischer. "We hope people build new connections with each other through lived experiences and the shared journey of being LGBTQ+ in Missouri.”
The Honorees
The event will also honor the work of Gary Mudd, chief financial officer of DOORWAYS, a nonprofit that provides housing and services for people affected by HIV/AIDS; State Reps. Ashley Bland-Manlove and Rasheen Aldridge; and two medical professionals.
“Brunch of Champions began as a way to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community within Missouri, including uplifting the incredible work that individuals and organizations outside PROMO do on a daily basis,” says Fischer. "We are not alone when it comes to fighting for LGBTQ+ rights and equality in this state, and this event is a way to recognize unique contributions to our collective end goal."
Tickets are $100 and available on PROMO’s website. Proceeds will benefit PROMO’s fundraising and community building efforts.
