Interior designer Sohaila Danesh is always on the go, and she carries everything she needs for the day—from a tape measure for a client meeting to a protein bar for a quick lunch—in a classic black Gucci tote she’s owned for years.
“I buy really practical things that go with everything,” she says, referring to the bag and to the Louis Vuitton clutch tucked inside, which she can grab at a moment’s notice. “That’s also how I design for my clients. They know I’m not going to show them anything trendy.”

Instead, she relies on timeless styles and mixes contemporary and traditional elements. She’s also developed her own formula for a white paint called Sohaila White.
“I couldn’t find the right white, so finally, after all these years of doing this, I perfected this white color that doesn’t have a hue to it,” she says. Original and resourceful—now that’s what we call a designer combination.
