Ceremony & Reception: The couple wanted an outdoor venue with plenty of open space, fall foliage, and accommodations for their dogs and horses. Three Barn Farm was the ideal setting (though the animals stayed home). The ceremony was nontraditional—a mentor of Corrie’s from law school (the state’s attorney for Champaign County, Illinois) married the couple. Rustic accents complemented the vintage-style décor in the red barn. After a sit-down dinner, guests were treated to a performance of dueling pianos and an accompanying guitarist and vocalist.
Eclipse of the Heart: The two met while attending grad school at the University of Illinois when a mutual friend whom Corrie was dating introduced them. “You don’t want to date him,” Neal said. “You want to date me.” Four years later, he proposed during the 2017 solar eclipse. Eyes fixed on the sky as darkness fell, Corrie scolded Neal to stop pestering her as she tried to watch. When she shot him a look, she realized that he was on one knee, ready to ask.
