What is it about St. Louis that makes musicians just want to fold themselves into our day-to-day? Last fall, Katy Perry crashed a wedding party after her huge, over-the-top stadium show at Scottrade. And Wednesday night, after a show at Chaifetz, Jack White and his crew headed to Saratoga Lanes in Maplewood:
We completely and totally agree about its allure and charm. Saratoga’s more than 100 years old, and is one of the few second-floor bowling alleys around. The City of Maplewood paid tribute to it a few years ago, theming the entirely of the 2016 “Let Them Eat Art” festival around Saratoga’s 100th anniversary.
If you saw Wednesday night’s show, we’re guessing your fandom has been galvanized—not just because the concert was superlative, but because White demanded fans pouch their phones. Watching our social media feed that night, we saw lots of folks who were initially disgruntled at this request, but who realized, to their shock, how much of a difference it makes—in a good way.
Alas, most of us missed our chance to bowl with Jack White & Co., but there’s another Maplewoodian tradition you can take advantage of this weekend: The 30th Annual National Dream Hotline, 54 straight hours of free dream interpretation courtesy of the School of Metaphysics, which has called Maplewood home for 45 years.
