For the first time ever, the St. Louis Blues are the winners of the Stanley Cup. Last night's Game 7 had St. Louisans on their feet from the puck drop, with two goals scored in just the first period. The team eventually beat the Boston Bruins (at the team's own TD Garden nonetheless) 4–1.
But as St. Louisans remember, it's been a long road. From last in the league to a nail-biting Game 7, we've laughed, we've cried, we've watched dancing rats (can we put Boris in the Cup?), seen Jon Hamm's scarf collection, and watched as hockey tore apart The Office's Jim and Pam. Now, we party.
But first, let's relive all of last night's best reactions:
Does this sum up the game?
The Cup makes for quite the carry-on as the Blues travel back to St. Louis:
Our favorite St. Louis natives are full of pride:
The Stanley Cup has put onscreen lovebirds John Krasinski and St. Louis native Jenna Fischer on opposite sides of a rivalry. Maybe next year, Krasinski?
Then the moments that make us cry:
Eleven-year-old superfan Laila Anderson even got to kiss the cup:
OK, this is too much:
Ryan O'Reilly and his father share a special moment. (We're not crying, you are.)
Oh, and who can forget when O'Reilly was so pumped, he had to be censored:
When your dad, Patrick Maroon, wins the Stanley Cup, NBD:
Oh, hi, Onion:
Reality:
Welcome home, Stanley. We think you'll like it here.
We'll leave you with this:
