Paddle Up Pickleball Club is the newest tenant at The District in the Chesterfield Valley, bringing a premium indoor pickleball experience to players of all skill levels.
The Chesterfield location is Paddle Up’s second—its original location is a nine-court facility in Lake St. Louis. Plans are also in motion to build a third location in Quincy, Illinois, which is expected to open by year’s end.

“We’re psyched to bring what we’ve learned from Lake St. Louis to Chesterfield,” co-owner Matt Lanholt said in a news release. “We were the first indoor pickleball-only club in St. Charles County, and we can’t wait to expand that energy here.”
Coming in at 23,000 square feet, the club’s Chesterfield location has six courts and features an equipment rental program and pro shop to ensure all members play with top-notch gear. Monthly and annual membership programs are available for purchase, though guests can drop in for a one-time fee.

Paddle Up has numerous play options on tap for pickleballers of all abilities. Beginner and novice clinics focus on teaching the fundamentals of the sport to newcomers, while intermediate, finesse, and advanced skills programs are geared toward sharpening experienced players’ skillsets.
Club members are able to rent individual courts online to ensure a spot, or they can participate in numerous informal group play events that are frequently scheduled.
Paddle Up joins as The District continues to expand into one of the metro area’s fastest growing entertainment complexes. Slotting in alongside fellow tenants from an arcade to a martial arts studio to an ever-growing slate of local food and drink spots, leadership at The District felt as though Paddle Up was the perfect partner to expand its sports footprint.
“We spoke to a lot of pickleball operators,” Michael Staenberg, the owner and developer of The District, said in the same release. “But Matt and (co-owner Jon Richert) stood out for their energy, insight, and market knowledge. That’s a winning combination, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to our expanding portfolio of sports and entertainment offerings at The District.”
This month, Paddle Up is hosting its first tournament at The District since the location opened on July 21. Both club members and non-members are eligible to register for singles, doubles, and triples tournaments in the 2025 Summer Smash, which takes place August 22–24.
