Owner Jake Hafner set out to create a neighborhood spot and has done a great job of welcoming families. The backyard biergarten provides outdoor seating for a sandwich and a brew. And if it rains, there are plenty of games and books inside to keep the whole family occupied.

4 Hands Brewing Co.

1220 S. Eighth, Downtown

If you’re looking for a slightly more casual experience for the family before a Cardinals game, check out the 4 Hands Tasting Room. Their custom coloring page will entertain the kids long enough for you to enjoy fare like brats and barbecue from Dave Bailey’s The Fifth Wheel.

Schlafly Bottleworks

7260 Southwest, Maplewood

The original St. Louis craft brewer is one of your best choices for a family brewery experience. Consider the menu, loaded with great food options for kids: pretzel sticks, mac and cheese, pizza… Adults, of course, will enjoy the special seasonal brews. Older kids (ages 12 and up) might enjoy the free tours that Schlafly provides on weekends.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company Grove Brewery & Bierhall

4465 Manchester, The Grove

UCBC’s Grove location has a spacious warehouse vibe with ample space for large families. The long bierhall-style tables are big enough for friends and family, and the industrial space drowns out rowdy toddlers. The food is a bit more upscale, but the pretzels, frites, and waffles should keep the kids happy.
