After five years in business, artisan provision outlet Larder & Cupboard will close at the end of the month. Its last day will be next Monday, December 30. Owner Cindy Higgerson took full ownership of the business in January 2017, when Brian Pelletier of Kakao Chocolate sold his share in the company.
Over the years, the store earned a reputation for sourcing unusual items. Many of the foodstuffs and serviceware were only available at the Maplewood store.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce my decision to not renew my lease and close the Larder & Cupboard brick and mortar storefront,” Higgerson posted on the company’s Instagram account. “Although I am sad to close our storefront, I am excited about the future and the opportunity to continue work with our local community artisans.”
Higgerson plans to continue supplying wholesale clients, pop-up events, and farmers’ markets. Larder & Cupboard’s remaining inventory is currently on sale at discounted rates. The store is also selling vintage fixtures and reclaimed wood furniture, including its rustic farm table.
