Since purchasing Bluegrass Brewing Company and rebranding as Goodwood in 2015, the company has become known for its innovative brewing techniques, which incorporate Kentucky bourbon barrels. These barrels, traditionally used for aging bourbon, impart bold flavors and unique profiles to Goodwood’s beers, creating a higher ABV and paying homage to Kentucky’s rich distilling legacy.
While the new location will be a great spot for barrel-stout lovers, Goodwood Brewing also offers a balanced selection of core beers, ensuring there’s something for every palate. “Our core line includes a lighter lager, a terrific IPA, a walnut brown ale, and a bourbon barrel stout,” says CEO Ted Mitzlaff. Among the initial beer offerings:

- Louisville Lager (ABV: 4.2% IBU: 23)
- Goodwood IPA (ABV: 6.9% IBU: 67)
- Bourbon Barrel Stout (ABV: 8.0% IBU: 30)
- Tart N’ Tempered (ABV: 5.2%)
- Walnut Brown Ale (ABV: 6.1% IBU: 31)
Goodwood also promises a hearty list of seasonal and one-off releases. (For the moment, the beer will be transported from the company’s vast brewing facilities in Louisville, rather than being brewed onsite.)

Beyond brew, Goodwood also offers Kentucky-based whiskeys aged in used beer barrels. These spirits will initially be available at the O’Fallon location:
- Goodwood Stout Bourbon (ABV: 45.0% | PROOF: 90)
- Goodwood Honey Bourbon (ABV: 45.0% | PROOF: 90)
- Goodwood Walnut Brown Bourbon (ABV: 45.0% | PROOF: 90)
- Goodwood Rye (ABV: 45.0% | PROOF: 90)
To round out the beverage menu, there’s also a selection of wines produced in California under the Table 24 label.
In terms of food, Goodwood offers a chef-driven menu with a Southern theme. “We make as much as possible from scratch on-site and focus on the overall dining experience,” says Mitzlaff. “Our culinary offerings span from beer pretzels, buffalo cauliflower, New York strip steak, and salmon, ensuring there’s something for everyone.”
The Atmosphere
Located in a historic building that dates back to 1862, the O’Fallon space offers a blend of Old World charm and modern amenities. With the building most recently being occupied by the beloved McGurk’s Public House, Mitzlaff and his team were dedicated to preserving the same historic charm.

“McGurk’s was a terrific establishment. It was a very popular old Irish pub, and, frankly, the bones are amazing,” says Mitzlaff. “We removed one wall just to open up the facility a little bit, but for the most part it’s just as it was.”

The new location retains the warmth and welcoming ambiance of the past but with restored floors and a fresh bar top, which blends well with the original architecture. “We’ll have two indoor bars, ample seating, and an exquisite patio area,” Mitzlaff says. The patio, which is partially covered and equipped with ceiling fans and radiant heaters, also features an outdoor bar and can be used year-round.
The brewery plans to host a range of events throughout the year, including beer and bourbon dinners, live entertainment, and trivia nights. There’s also an Airbnb above the brewery, making it a convenient spot to stay for both locals and tourists.
Says Mitzlaff, “We look forward to being a part of the community.”
