Everyone loves a good “best restaurant” list, but sometimes the descriptions of those lists are deceptive. Take OpenTable’s new “Best Restaurants for Foodies” in St. Louis, recently cited by the St. Louis Business Journal. Mentioned in the Biz Journal’s article is the fact that Nixta is new to the list. Not mentioned is the fact that the list is actually “Best Restaurants that Use OpenTable.” The irony: Nixta just announced that it has ceased using OpenTable, which means it ain’t gonna make the list next year no matter how good it is in the interim.
Six Mile Turns 2
Six Mile Bridge Beer is celebrating its second birthday with a release party next Saturday, August 26, from 2–11 p.m. The guest of honor is Second Trip Around the Sun, a porter barrel-aged on freshly toasted coconut and Ghanain cocoa nibs. Food will be provided by Plantain Girl, with every menu item prepared with different Six Mile Bridge beers. It all takes place at the Six Mile Bridge tasting room (11841 Dorsett) in Maryland Heights.
Creative Cocktails
The Rice House, the Florissant restaurant that alternatively defines itself as Asian fusion and Chinese/soul food, has developed a line of custom cocktails that salute St. Louis and its environs: U. City Red Lotus Martini, West County Iced Tea, Florissant Strawberry Henney, Dogtown Whisky Ginger… It even rolled out a dramatic promotional video, set to semi-apocalyptic music. Drink up!
