The Darkness: The Darkness is back and with a vengeance. The haunted house will feature a haunted hayride, graveyards, haunted hospitals, haunted prisons, cornfields, and more. New to the already scary experience is the Horror Party Room games and escape rooms. $25. 7–11 p.m. Open until November 3. 1525 S. Eighth.
Eureka Fear Farm: Spend your night getting frightened at Red’s Corn Maze Massacre and Farmer Bob’s Haunted Hayride. With more than 100 acres, there’s plenty of things lurking around. Interested in annihilating zombies? Then play Haunted Paintball for an additional $15. $20. Open until October 26. 7 p.m.–12 a.m. 8004 Twin River.
Creepy World: Head to one of America’s biggest haunted houses. The scream park features 13 haunted attractions including the Brigantine Asylum and the new Monster Midway, which will offer activities such as Zombie Paintball, Zombie Axe Throwing, and Tomb Escape. St. Louis Escape: This might be the scariest escape room you get locked into. Try to solve puzzles, break codes, and find the key for rooms such as the Haunted Hotel, The Curse of the Mummy, Cellar Escape, and—the newest addition—the Wizard of Oz. Haunted Bissell Mansion: One of the oldest historical landmarks in St. Louis is the Bissell Mansion. Built in 1823 by Captain Lewis Bissell, the property is now open to the public as the Bissell Mansion Restaurant & Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. Although there were no tragic events in the home during that time, the previous and first occupants, Lewis Bissell and his first wife, Mary, who both died in the home, are said to walk the halls. Employees say wine glasses go missing and reappear in odd places while the ghostly figure of a woman in a white evening gown has been seen sweeping up the stairs and turning with a smile. $56.95. 4426 Randall.
McPike Mansion: Once a regal addition to Alton, Illinois, the eerie McPike Mansion is now known as one of the most haunted houses in America. Over the years, several generations of the McPike family and staff are said to have been spotted within the mansion’s walls, including Mary McPike, who lost her newborn baby and is said to have died of a broken heart nine months later; the home’s next owner, Paul Laichinger; and a servant girl named Sarah Wells. $30. 2018 Alby.
The Lemp Mansion: Built in the 1860s, the Lemp Mansion has been known for both the mysterious and devastating loss of the Lemp family. After John Adam Lemp, founder of The Lemp Brewery, passed away, his son William J. Lemp took over the multimillion-dollar industry. However, tragedy struck when his favorite son, Frederick Lemp, suddenly died. From there, loss within the family continued to follow with the closing of the brewery during the Prohibition.
