What a bummer: 2 Cents Plain is closing, due to landlord issues. Annie Zaleski has more here on the RFT’s A to Z blog (though sounds like the guys didn’t want to go into heavy detail about the situation). Get Born just had a show there last Friday, so I was pretty shocked to hear the news. Though it sucks losing a progressive downtown music venue (there are enough parrothead bars to go around down there, thanks), it sounds like the organizers behind 2CP will continue to book shows, just in a new venue. What I loved about this place was that 2 Cents Plain was originally a Gaslight Square venue, and it symbolized – at least to me – a continuation of that bohemian energy. (Frankly, I was hoping that bohemian energy would spread.)
