Braunstein’s company is tripling its footprint in St. Louis: It recently relocated its headquarters to the Cortex Inno.vation District, and it’s investing millions in a new 82,000-square-foot, high-throughput lab to accelerate testing for Alzheimer’s disease. Known for commercializing the first blood test for amyloid plaques in the brain, C2N is growing operations to meet global demand for smarter testing.

Cohn launched Nerdy in 2007 to make virtual tutoring widely accessible. It was his full-time focus by 2011, and the company made its public debut in 2022. Today, Nerdy’s Varsity Tutors platform serves 5 million learners across more than 1,100 school districts. The company continues expanding AI-driven tutoring offerings while keeping scalable, human-centered learning at its core.

After four decades leading Daugherty Business Solutions—a $350 million consulting firm he founded in 1985—Daugherty oversaw its 2024 merger with CGI. He also began Daugherty Enterprises and The Daugherty Foundation, organizations focused on applying AI and advanced technology to improve care for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions. Through the foundation, Daugherty and his team are helping direct key resources to research and community initiatives.

Fiorello oversees ongoing expansion at the 200-acre innovation district, which has no vacant lab space after Varro Life Sciences moved in last year. The district’s next major project—a $100 million reuse of the former Goodwill Industries complex in Midtown—will add lab and office space for mid- and late-stage bioscience firms. World Wide Technology has extended its global reach while deepening investments in AI and advanced infrastructure services. Forbes also ranked Kavanaugh among the world’s top 500 billionaires, estimating his net worth at $7 billion.

Long leads Lumeris, a St. Louis–based health technology company that advances value-based care through data and AI-driven insights. In 2025, the company partnered with Google Cloud to host and scale its Tom platform, which is designed to improve access to primary care and strengthen population health management. Lumeris now supports about 2 million patients nationwide, helping health systems align clinical performance with financial sustainability.

Lowy’s St. Louis–based IT and marketing staffing company has clients across the country, including a few big fish back at home. In recent months, Envision became an IT vendor for Enterprise Mobility and Mastercard, and it celebrated 40 years of partnership with Anheuser-Busch. “St. Louis has a very diversified base of large- and medium-sized companies, government entities, health care organizations, and universities who are strong prospects for Envision’s services,” Lowy says.
