Chicken wings are not the best food for a first date. Something about orange-stained lips, finger licking and a sweating brow seems to discourage romance. But on a second date, or even just on your own, wings are the perfect accompaniment to any sporting event, as long as you make sure you get a sauce that provides that perfect level of discomfort. Too mild and you might as well eat a chicken sandwich. But if you make it so hot that you’re sweating, your nose is running and you’re afraid your tongue is melting, well, then you just won’t enjoy the experience. Aim for somewhere in between, and then make sure you have plenty of ranch or blue cheese dressing at the ready.
