I do wish our command of the Mandarin language was better. It would make ordering a lunch special at places like the newly-opened Chef Ma’s Chinese Gourmet so much easier.
The restaurant, located at 2336 Woodson Road in Overland, was originally a Taco Bell. In the last few years, Taqueria La Pasadita and El Comal Restaurant Oaxaqueño occupied the space. (El Comal relocated to 8724 St. Charles Rock Road in early January).

Chef Ma (that’s it, he goes only by “Ma”) worked most recently at Mandarin House in Overland and prior to that, owned a restaurant in the San Jose area called Chef Ma.
Ma’s menu (in the banner, above) is brief and inexpensive, with menu entrees averaging in the $8.50 range.
If anyone out there speaks Mandarin and cares to interpret the daily lunch specials, lunch is on me.
