After taking Marie Kondo’s philosophy to heart, I can honestly say that I feel lighter, more in control, and, yes, even a bit joyful.

Over 300 submissions were entered in this year’s local competition for architects, commercial and residential interior designers, artisans, builders, and landscape designers.

Last fall, the Mississippi native opened her own window-front booth in the popular Warson Woods Antique Gallery.

“What helps women is that we tend to be relational,” says Joy. “We build relationships and are loyal.”

Toile is the term given to a monochromatic figurative scene printed on cotton with the use of a copper plate.

After opening late last year, the Grand Center hot spot received its share of acclaim, including coverage by CNN and USA Today, in whose annual competition for Best New Hotel the Angad took the No. 4 spot.

“When we came into this place, it was an absolute disaster,” says homeowner Richard Higby.

Built in 1938, the Midtown building was where many tennis greats—Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, and Butch Buchholz, among others—developed their game.

Romantic and artistic partners, graphic designer Bridget Carey and photographer Brandon Bandy use a retro Japanese office copier to burn stencils and make multiple meticulous passes of color.
