St. Louis Magazine is looking for an experienced, versatile, and sharp senior editor. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for magazine journalism and the ability to multi-task and collaborate, as well as impressive reporting chops. Benefits include medical and dental insurance.
Duties
- Report, write, edit, and/or proofread a wide range of articles.
- Write compelling longform features.
- Generate strong story ideas on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with other editors and writers.
- Contribute to stlmag.com and other digital content.
- Manage at least one department of the magazine every month.
- Plan and contribute to service features.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- A passion for journalism
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or a related area of study
- A minimum of five years of experience reporting, writing and editing in a magazine or newspaper environment
- A deft and lyrical writing style
- A knack for collaborating with freelancers
- Ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
- A talent for packaging content with wit and originality
- Knowledge of the St. Louis region or the ability to attain that knowledge quickly and remain abreast of what’s happening across a range of areas
- Adeptness at balancing fun and professionalism, creativity and focus
- Experience with SEO preferred
