The royal review is in: Jayson Tatum is very good.
For those of us in the land of t-ravs, that’s not news. But for the Prince and Princess of Wales, Wednesday’s performance from St. Louis’ homegrown hoops hero was a revelation. Tatum, the Boston Celtics’ All-NBA forward, erupted for a season-high 49 points in front of William and Kate, who marveled at the 24-year-old’s natural scoring ability on what turned out to be a record-setting night at Boston's TD Garden.
In the Celtics’ 134-121 victory over the Miami Heat, Tatum not only became the youngest player in NBA history to sink 900 career 3-pointers, but the first to touch that milestone before his 25th birthday.
And, of course, the Chaminade product earned the applause of the only folks in the building more famous than he.
The royal recognition aside, it's been a big week for Tatum, who was named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Month on Thursday after averaging 31.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game across October and November for the league-best Celtics.
