Lyft “Ditch Your Car” Challenge: Here’s how to register for a chance to win more than $300 in ride-share credit

The San Francisco–based ride-share company is giving 50 St. Louisans credits and a metro pass if they agree to give up driving their own cars for 30 days.

On Wednesday, the San Francisco–based ride-share company Lyft announced it’s giving select St. Louisans a lot of money if they agree to give up driving their own cars for 30 days.

Those willing to nix driving, and take Lyft and public transport instead, can enter for a chance to win $300 in Lyft credits and a $78 St. Louis Metro Transit one-month pass. Together with Metro Transit and Citizens for Modern Transit, Lyft is billing the challenge as the Ditch Your Car program, which will run from October 8 to November 6.

In a release, Joe Schlichter, the market manager for Lyft St. Louis said: “The way that people move around cities is changing faster than ever, and we are excited to challenge St. Louis residents to change their everyday habits and give up their car for a month. Lyft alone is not the overall solution to overcome transportation hurdles, but by partnering with Metro and Citizens for Modern Transit, we are able to create a full menu of mobility options for St. Louis residents.”

“People shy away from trying new transportation options because of the fear of the unknown,” said Kim Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern Transit, in the release. “We are confident that those participating in the program will quickly learn just how easy it is to use both the public transit system and Lyft—and, all the associated benefits of doing so. When you couple transit with ridesharing the entire region is accessible.”

To enter for a chance to win, register here. Fifty people will be selected at random, and if you’re chosen, Lyft will mail you some “How to Ditch” instructions and your credits.
