Utilities & Services

  • Electric: Ameren services Clayton. Call or visit its website to set up services. 
  • Gas: Schedule an appointment online with Spire, or call the 24-hour customer service line at 314-621-6960 to schedule an appointment.
  • Water: Sign up for service with Missouri-American Water Company, or call its customer service line at 866-430-0820.
  • Recycling and trash: Clayton partners with Republic Services for once-a-week pickup for each waste category: trash, recyclables, and yard waste. Additional fees apply for supplementary pickups.
    • Trash and recycling containers can be rented from Republic Services, or residents can provide their own.
    • Check the trash, yard waste, and recycling schedule.
    • Contact the Public Works Department at 314-290-8540 to request a yard waste tag to signify you have waste to be picked up.
  • Sewer: Sign up for service with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, or call its customer service line at 314-768-6260.

Transportation & Parking

PUBLIC TRANSIT

  • MetroLink: Two stations serve the municipality: Clayton (Forest Park Parkway, west of Central Avenue) and Forsyth (Forsyth Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway). The light-rail system operates seven days a week and connects to stations across the region, including in Illinois.
    • Tickets and passes can be bought online, at station kiosks, or directly from the drivers. 
  • Metro Transit: Providing buses and curb-to-curb services
    • Tickets can be purchased through the Transit app. 

PARKING

  • Residential Parking Program: Residents can apply for digital parking passes for on-street parking near their home.
  • Street parking: Pay using street meters or use Passport Parking for online parking payments. The city will soon add ParkMobile as a secondary parking vendor.
  • Parking tickets: Pay online, via mail, or in person at the Traffic Violations Bureau.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The School District of Clayton is considered one of the nation’s best school districts, with 95 percent of graduates attending college. Ranked as an A+ district on Niche, Clayton schools excel in staff, culture, athletics and academics. Enrollment for the district is done entirely online. Families can complete a pre-registration form and expect to provide proof of residency, immunization forms, and other information. Check the district map for details about specific schools.

  • Clayton Emergency Alerts System: Sign up and create an account to receive email, text, and voice call messages related to emergency health, safety, and weather alerts. 
  • City of Clayton Fire Department: Located at 10 N. Bemiston. Residents can schedule an engine house tour of services and fire safety. 
  • City of Clayton Police Department: Residents can contact the police with community feedback through the online portal
