After a three-year absence, the Disney Store re-opened today in the St. Louis Galleria with several magical new touches. The store, one of 60 new concept stores to open in 2011, aims to provide “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” with several interactive experiences meant to keep the kids (and adults) busy.
Highlights of the new store include an interactive Disney Princess Castle Magic Mirror, where a princess will magically appear and talk to you. Also, translucent trees dot the store with images and video projected onto them that constantly change. A Disney Store Theatre in the back of the store includes a large screen and a coloring table for the kids. Also, daily events are scheduled and posted in front of the store each day, including opening and closing ceremonies, trivia, and more.

For a special St. Louis touch, a mural that goes around the top of the store shows silhouettes of Disney characters at St. Louis monuments, such as the Arch, Jewel Box, Saint Louis Art Museum, a Mississippi riverboat, and others.
The store also offers birthday celebrations where the birthday boy or girl’s name and a special happy birthday message is displayed on the theatre screen along with a few other special touches.
Although the store opened today, a grand opening celebration will take place on October 1 with special visits from Micky Mouse, Goofy, and more.
The new store is located across from Starbucks on the second floor near the entrance to the new Nordstrom. For more information, call 314-862-7574 or visit disneystore.com.
