We asked Jeanne Fuchs Olubogun, district traffic engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation, about rush-hour rough spots. In West County, I-64 between I-270 & Olive remains congested, even with the addition of lanes. On I-270 N from Gravois to Manchester, backups don’t “take more than a minor fender-bender.” In North County, I-270 N/E between McDonnell & I-170 is another focus area, with work scheduled for 2018 and 2019. Closer to the city, on I-64 between Big Bend and I-170, “traffic volumes, weaving, and alignment of the road” cause commuters to hit the brakes. As for the ever-packed Poplar Street Bridge, MoDOT is making improvements, with work slated for completion by next fall. In the meantime, consider MetroLink.
