It’s easy for a workout groove to become a workout rut: Same old runs around the neighborhood, same old trips to the gym. Routine can even sap your get-up-and-go. But mixing up your training can be as simple as trying something creative to get your body moving. There are lots of fitness classes available across the St. Louis region that can help you burn calories and build strength in new and refreshing ways.
SILKS / Bumbershoot Aerial Arts
Aerial fitness torches calories, enhances flexibility, and builds muscle, all while testing the limits of gravity. At this Benton Park studio, stretch your body and reach new heights in one of the dozens of available silks, trapeze, and rope classes. If you’d prefer to keep your feet on the floor, Bumbershoot also offers ground circus classes, such as yoga for aerialists and introductory courses that focus on tumbling and handstands. Guests need not have previous high-flying experience for many of the classes. 2200 Gravois.

These hourlong classes are open to gym-goers of all ages and athletic abilities, and they’re especially accessible for seniors and people with disabilities. These low-impact workouts allow you to break a sweat without over-working your joints and back. The distinctive classes allow participants to perform moves that range from basic to difficult under the watchful eye of instructors. 3965 Park.

DANCE / Yes Honey Studio
Shake up your workout routine with a dance-inspired class at this boutique studio in The Grove. Yes Honey offers four main categories of classes: Yes Choreo (an organized combination of heart-pumping dance steps), Yes Move (up to 40 minutes of follow-the-leader dancing, rounded out with a quick strength training session), Yes Yoga (a meditative session focused on strength, balance, and flexibility), and Yes Strength (a muscle-building session that incorporates bands, weights, ropes, and more). 1519 Tower Grove.
POLE / Michelle Mynx Academy
A pole fitness class can help build strength and boost cardio endurance. At this South Grand studio, offerings range from introductory pole-dancing classes to specialty sessions that teach more advanced flexibility techniques. There are also classes focused on stretching, pole choreography, and floorwork, which includes dynamic acrobatic movements that pair with pole work. If you’d prefer more personal instruction outside of the group environment, the studio offers private lessons too. 3190 S. Grand.
TRAMPOLINE / Sky Zone Fenton
At weekly SkyFit classes, you can burn calories and reconnect with your inner child while jumping on a trampoline. These high-flying, hour-long cardio sessions are high-intensity workouts. You’ll work major muscles all over your body and strengthen your core. The best part? All that jumping is meant to be fun. Classes are available on Tuesdays from 6–7 p.m. 631 Gravois.
