Building off the success of Topgolf next door, developer Michael Staenberg reimagined the former Taubman Outlet Mall as The District. On the heels of 52,000-square-foot concert venue The Factory bringing big-name acts to town, the development recently added another option for younger audiences: Main Event, a family entertainment center with nearly 50 locations across the nation. The 50,000-square-foot complex has a high-energy atmosphere. Visitors have their choice between bowling, multi-level laser tag, gravity ropes, billiards, Hologate VR (with such new offerings as Star Wars Dojo and Kong: Skull Island), a video-game gallery (featuring 100-plus games), and casual dining. The venue also hosts private events—birthday parties, team-building events, and family nights out—with a focus on coming together for an interactive, fun experience. As Kyle Maxam, general manager of the Chesterfield location of Main Event, explains, “Our goal is to help families and communities connect with one another and build memories that last a lifetime.” Season passes start at $80.
