These classic spots offer a space for kids to get active and parents to reminisce.

Skate King

Skate King opened in 1970 and has operated skating centers in Missouri, Illinois, Louisiana, and New Jersey. “This St. Louis Skate King is the flagship center,” its website states, “offering children and adults of all ages a fun, safe, clean, and entertaining roller-skating experience.” Skate King is open daily with various time slots for different age groups and themes, such as all-ages Gospel Skate on Monday nights. Tot Skate, for kids ages 12 and under, also happens Saturdays and Sundays from 1–4 p.m.

Rollercade St. Louis

Bask in neon lights and shimmering disco balls at this family-owned roller rink in Sappington that’s been in business since 1971. Stop by Tuesday through Sunday evenings and throughout the day on Saturday. Every month’s first and third Thursday evenings are open for adults-only skate sessions, so check the schedule online before heading out.

Prices: Admission is $8–$10; regular quad skate rentals are $2, and inline rentals are $4.

Rock Roll-O-Rena

This rink in Arnold boasts a “family-oriented atmosphere,” as well as family ownership passed through three generations, since 1965. The rink plays a wide range of songs, from rock and roll to today’s top hits and old-school favorites; song requests are welcome, too. Hours vary Thursday through Sunday with private events each day, so be sure to check the schedule online.  

Prices: Admission is $8–$11; skate rentals are $4, with options for Fisher-Price skates or intermediate skates for young beginners.

Great Skate Roller Rink

Great Skate is the practice home of the St. Chux Derby Chix, a women’s roller derby team from St. Charles. In addition to hosting roller derby games, the facility is available to rent for roller hockey, indoor soccer, and dodgeball. Public skate hours vary Friday through Sunday.

Prices: Admission is $9; skate rentals are $4, and walkers on wheels are available to rent as well.

Piccadilly Palace

Skate, golf, play, and chill—you could easily spend the whole day at Piccadilly Palace. A roller rink, mini golf course, snow cone stand, virtual-reality arena, and e-gaming venue are all on-site. Keep an eye on Piccadilly Palace’s social media for details on upcoming live music performances, go-kart racing and more. Visit the recently opened Par 1 facility with food, drinks, and golf simulators for adults.

Prices: Admission is $2–$8 for the rink, $10–$13 for mini golf; regular quad skates, inline skates and walkers on wheels are $3 to rent.
