On Being a New Mom: This is the hardest job that you cannot quit—and the most rewarding. Parenthood tests your patience. My husband and I often ask, “What do we do now? How do we handle this?” You can’t really negotiate with a 2-year-old. We are leading by example, and so far, it has worked for us.
On Balancing Parenthood and a Career: Early in an internship, I was asked, “What are you willing to sacrifice?” Balancing is not saying yes all the time. I have to prioritize and be OK with the choices we make for our family and for my health. Sleep is vital in this job, letting go of mom guilt, and knowing it’s OK to take care of me in order to be the mom I want to be, as well as a good colleague.
A Day in the Life: I’m up by 1:30 a.m. and in the studio by 2:30 a.m. I nap after, and then I’m a mom the rest of the day.
Lessons You’d Like to Impart to Your Kids: We want them to be good people. Kind and honest.
Fun Fact: I played flag football in high school.
When Life Throws a Curve: As an optimist, I try to look at the big picture, rise above situations, and choose to be positive. Focus on what is important. We lean on our family and get through it together.
Life Motto: Finding balance and finding the place that allows this balance.
