When The Princess and the Frog was released in theaters in 2009, educator Christy Timberlake auditioned for a local birthday company’s casting of a Tiana princess. At first, it was a fun way to earn additional money. Then it snowballed into Timberlake’s double life as a professional princess. “It’s something that has become very important to me,” she says. During the pandemic, Timberlake would Zoom into birthday parties. Her voice is high-pitched and sweet as she takes on the role of Tiana, Tinkerbell’s friend Iridessa, and Cinderella (based on singer Brandy’s 1997 portrayal). During in-person parties, though, Timberlake—wearing ball gowns that she sewed herself—is able to fully experience special moments with awe-struck children. “There was one time at a party where a child sat down and began stroking my arm,” she recalls. “My skin matched their skin. They couldn’t believe there was a princess who looked like them at their party.” To book a visit from Timberlake for a children’s birthday party or special event, click here.
