10 Holiday Festivities to Attend in St. Louis

November kicks off a handful of holiday celebrations and light displays in and around the city.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights

At the Brewery Lights, you’ll find an 84-by-40-foot ice skating rink, a s’mores station, free walking tours, ice sculptures, food stations, and beer sampling for those over the age of 21. 5–10 p.m. November 17–January 1. Thursday through Sunday. Anheuser-Busch.

Holidays at Union Station

Union Station is rolling out a can’t-miss holiday celebration destination. Holidays at Union Station will offer main attractions such as Santa Express train rides and fire and water shows synchronized with lights and music. November 18–December 30. More information here.

Santa’s Magical Kingdom

Drive through millions of lights and dazzling animated scenes at Santa’s Magical Kingdom, located next to Six Flags St. Louis at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Resort. 5:30–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 5:30–10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. November 18–January 8.

Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights

Start the holiday season off with the lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights and fireworks downtown. The event starts at Union Station’s North Pole Village (under the train shed) and features family activities including cookies with Mrs. Claus, poinsettias painting with Walter Knoll florist, and writing letters to the military with the USO. There will be singers, brass bands, a performance of the Nutcracker on Ice, and more. 3:30–7 p.m. The tree at Aloe Plaza on Market Street will be lit at 6:25 p.m. with fireworks to follow. November 19. Union Station. For more information, visit the Christmas in St. Louis website.

Garden Glow

Some of the most iconic locations inside the Missouri Botanical Garden will be covered in more than a million festive lights. Garden Glow will also offer interactive photo opportunities, holiday music, and food and drink options. 5–10 p.m. November 19–January 1. Missouri Botanical Garden.

Downtown Kirkwood Holiday Walk 

Bring the kids to see Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in Kirkwood by train. Santa will stop for photos with the kids, then your family can visit the train station for children’s activities, storytelling, and singers. All day. The Holiday Trolley will offer free rides around historic downtown Kirkwood from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. November 19. Kirkwood Train Station. More information here.  

Way of Lights

The Way of Lights is a traditional Christmas Light show that impresses the little ones with a million festive lights as they tell the story of Baby Jesus. Make sure you park the car and visit the petting zoo, roast a s’more, or warm up inside with children’s crafts and holiday singers from all over the region. Some fees apply, but the display is only asking for a donation. November 18–December 31. 5–9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 5–10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. 

Winter Wonderland

Drive through a million twinkle lights strung up in one of our favorite county parks. Vehicles are welcome Sunday through Friday. Saturdays are reserved for carriage rides only. $10 per car, cash only. 5:30–9:30 p.m. November 23–January 1. Tilles Park. More information here.

Holiday in the Park at Six Flags

Six Flags is extending the fun throughout the holiday season. They’ve transformed the park into a winter wonderland, complete with Santa, a candy cane forest, s’more roasting, and traditional Dickens’ style carolers. Most of the thrill rides are still open—the water rides have been closed for the season. November 25–January 1. Six Flags St. Louis.

Wild Lights

The Saint Louis Zoo’s annual Wild Lights return with 500,000 dazzling holiday lights, illuminated animal displays, and festive music. Guests can also enjoy ice carving demonstrations, campfire s’mores, hot chocolate, costumed characters, and much more. 5:30-8:30 p.m. November 25-27, November 30–December 4. Saint Louis Zoo.
