Missouri Botanical Garden

Hooray! The Garden Glow has been extended through January 9. Family Winter Carnival

Bud Light Party Centre, Soulard Market

Your thoughts might initially go to less than-family-friendly places when you first think of Soulard and Mardi Gras, but the party planners have put together a booze-free event for the little ones. Kids can party with bounce houses, fire trucks, face-painting, and interactive displays with artists. Free. Noon-4 p.m. Sat.

Marvel Universe LIVE!

Scottrade Center

School of Rock: Winter Showcase and Winter Music Festival

Old Rock House and Firebird

School of Rock kids can get a leg up on garage noodlers by getting real lessons—and not just in scales and chord progressions. The school teaches about the nuts and bolts of gigging through learning it in the classroom and living it onstage. The area’s two locations, in Kirkwood and Ballwin, are playing shows this weekend at the Firebird and the Old Rock House. The showcase features hard-edged interpretations of Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, and Judas Priest, while the festival brings more mellow fare like Queen and Radiohead. $8. 6:30–10 p.m. Fri, noon–9:30 p.m. Sat.
