Eckert’s Farm debuts inaugural tulip season with 300,000 blooms in Belleville

For the first time in its history, Eckert’s is opening a pick-your-own tulips experience this spring.

Spring in St. Louis is about to get a lot more colorful. This season, Eckert’s Farm (951 S. Green Mount) is adding a vibrant new attraction to its agricultural legacy. For the first time in more than 185 years of farming, the Belleville-based destination will debut a pick-your-own tulips experience, featuring approximately 300,000 blooms.

The inaugural season opens March 27, when guests can explore the farm’s new Tulip Trail, a scenic walking path through rows of colorful spring flowers. Visitors will also have the opportunity to cut their own tulip bouquets to take home, creating a new seasonal tradition for the Metro East farm, known for its pick-your-own produce experiences.

“This is a truly special moment for our family and for Eckert’s,” Eckert’s Farms president Chris Eckert said in a press release. “We’ve always been committed to growing and evolving the farm while staying true to our roots.”

The Tulip Trail will be open from noon–6 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. Admission includes access to the fields and walking trail. Opening day tickets are $10, while weekday admission costs $14 online ($19 at the gate) and weekend admission is $18 online ($24 at the gate). Guests who want to bring flowers home can purchase a 10-stem tulip bundle for $20.

Opening weekend coincides with Eckert’s annual Easter Egg-Citement celebration, held Saturdays and Sundays from March 21–April 4. The family-friendly event features an egg hunt, tractor rides, a petting zoo, cookie decorating, seed planting, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Throughout the season, the farm will also host special tulip-themed experiences, including “Mimosa Mornings in the Tulips” on weekends, a “Hot Air Balloons in the Tulip Fields” event on April 11, and a “Paint & Sip” experience in partnership with Sawdust & Glitter. Guests may also encounter pop-ups such as Rudy’s Flower Truck from St. Louis or reserve curated picnic baskets to enjoy among the blooms.

“Planting tulips for the first time is both a celebration of spring and a reflection of our commitment to creating new experiences for the families who visit us year after year,” Eckert says.
