A Playful Story Comes to Life

The family-friendly show runs about 45 minutes and follows Bluey, her little sister, Bingo, and their parents, Chilli and Bandit, as they turn an ordinary afternoon into an imaginative adventure. When Bandit hopes to spend a quiet Sunday lounging on a bean bag, the energetic sisters have other plans. Through games and creativity, they set out to coax their dad into joining their fun.

Onstage, the characters are brought to life by skilled puppeteers using large-scale, expressive puppets designed to capture the charm of the animated series, whether the characters are telling stories, dancing, or turning a simple game into full-blown “keepy uppy” chaos. The production also features original music by composer Joff Bush, whose work helped define the sound of the television show.

A Global Hit for Families

The show has already proven a global hit with families. Since premiering, Bluey’s Big Play has toured internationally and played to more than 2 million audience members across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

In addition to its playful story, the production incorporates the familiar voices of actors Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, who voice Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit) in the original TV series. The result is a theatrical experience that closely mirrors the warmth and humor that made the show a worldwide favorite among both kids and parents, many of whom quote the series almost as much as their children.

A Fox Theatre Stop This September

The St. Louis run will feature three performances on September 12, at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., as well as a performance on September 13 at 1 p.m.

Since debuting in 2018, Bluey has become one of the most popular children’s programs in the world, praised for its humor, heart, and thoughtful depictions of family life. The stage adaptation aims to capture that same spirit, offering what producers describe as an introduction to live theater for younger audiences.

For many families, the Fox stop will offer an opportunity to see familiar characters in an entirely new way—through a colorful, imaginative performance designed to bring the playful world of Bluey to life.
