Either the population of St. Louis is booming or the number of parents anxious to show off their offspring has simply exploded. For this year’s Beautiful Baby Contest, 358 parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles sent in photos of lovely babies, all shy of age 3. That is exactly 120 entrants more than we saw last year. As in all beauty contests, we looked for the picture that made us stop…and look again. We read wonderful write-ups about loving, winning personalities, but we weren’t looking for winsome. We played it shallow. We wanted stunning.
