From fearsome to festive, these iconic hayride experiences are perfectly suited to be your next favorite fall family tradition.

Brookdale Farms

As classic of a hayride experience as one could wish, guests can book a hayride campfire combo at Brookdale. Check in at the Corn Maze Booth for your private experience, bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages, and enjoy the firelight and wonder. Families can book additional time for $75 per hour, and planing ahead is recommended due to the popularity of the rides.

Queeny Park

This 45-minute, tractor-drawn hayride follows the trails of picturesque to Queeny Park and ends in a cook fire provided by the park. Wagons hold a max of 20 people, the cost per wagon is $150, and time slots available are 6, 7, and 8 p.m. 

Lone Elk Park

Take a hay wagon ride to spot deer, elk, and other wildlife, followed by a marshmallow roast with hot chocolate, all set to live music, at Lone Elk Park. Flashlights and lawn chairs are welcome. Music plays from 7–9 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person, and reservations are recommended.

Eckert’s Millstadt Farm 

The haunted hayride at Eckert’s is a time-honored fave, but do it the right way with a bonfire to boot. After you’ve done all your apple and pumpkin picking, gather ’round a bonfire for up to 25 people and up to four hours total reserved time. Each guest 2 years or older will need to purchase a farm admission ticket, which includes one haunted hayride—if you dare.

Forest Park

Experience St. Louis’ favorite park like never before with a 45-minute tractor-pulled wagon ride followed by a 30-minute bonfire for which you can B.Y.O.S. (bring your own s’mores). On Friday and Saturday nights in the fall, the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry hosts the festivities at time slots starting from 7—8:05 p.m.. Reservations are required, early booking is recommended, and cost per wagon is $200 for a maximum of 20 people.

Des Peres Park

The bonfire is the main attraction at this chilly-night experience. The park staff builds the bonfire; you bring the flashlights. The evening becomes “lit” at 6:30 p.m., and the hayrides start at 8:15 p.m. Cost is $185 per wagon, with a max capacity of 30, including kids.

Creepyworld

If you’re looking for more haunted, less cutesy, this is the hayride for you. The Trick R Treat Haunted Hayride is described as a high-tech tour through the deadlines neighborhood in town. Guests will come face to face with Hollywood’s most dangerous villains. Creepyworld admission is required to join the hayride at $5 additional cost. 

Xtreme Paintball Park

OK, so it’s more of a bus than a tractor, but this haunted zombie shoot trail in Millstadt, Illinois, will leave you fully in the spooky spirit. Tickets are $25 per person and include a ride on the battle bus, access to the haunted trail, a rental pinball gun, and 200 paintballs.

Fort Zumwalt Park

On weekends until October 27, families have the chance to book an old-fashioned, tractor-pulled, 30-minute hayride through this historic park and gather around a bonfire after the trek is done. Guests can bring their own picnic materials, and rides run $175 for a 20-person group and $225 for a 40-person group.

Fountain Lakes Park

This hayride comes with a waterfront view and a sweet stop to roast s’mores at the campfire. On Fridays and Saturdays, the hayrides book up fast, so the park recommends planning ahead. Rates are $300 for a group of 25, and time slots are 5–7 p.m. and 7–9 p.m.

Bluebird Park

This Ellisville Park hosts hayrides hayrides on Thursdays throughout October, with time slots at 6, 6:45, and 7:30 p.m. Rides are $10 per person and $8 for residents. Pre-registration is required. 

Broemmelsiek Park

This tree-lined park in Defiance features 45-minute hayrides, complete with a one-hour bonfire for roasting treats, through November 13. Reservations are $125 per wagon for a maximum of 20 people
