Several area markets and butcher shops offer order-ahead, pasture-raised turkeys, as well as essential holiday provisions.

This Maplewood butcher shop is known as one of the area’s top places to buy humanely raised, sustainable meat, so it’s no surprise that it applies that ethos to Thanksgiving turkeys. This year, Bolyard’s is offering Broad Breasted White birds from Buttonwood Farms in California, Missouri, known for its pasture-raised poultry. Turkeys are $7.25 per pound and available in two sizes,  smaller bird, ranging between 16-19 lbs, and a larger one, ranging between 20-25 lbs. smaller portions, such as breasts, legs, leg quarters and thighs, are also available. Although all birds come unbrined, the shop offers dry brine kits, as well as trimmings such as stock, green bean casserole, and buttermilk biscuits. 2733 Sutton.

City Greens Market

A grocery store with a mission to make fresh food accessible to all St. Louisans, City Greens is offering fresh turkeys from Buttonwood Farms to its members for the at-cost price of $3.50 per pound. (Non-members can also order, though the price goes up slightly to $4.55 per pound.) legs and drumsticks are also available. The pasture-raised, antibiotic- and hormone-free birds are available for pre-order through November 14 for pickup  on November 26. The Forest Park Southeast shop is also partnering with Heavenly Sinful Delights for delectable Thanksgiving pies Dubbed “Piemageddon 2024,” this fun collaboration will bring you excellent pies with some of the flakiest, most delectable crust you’ve ever had. 4260 Manchester.

Kenrick’s Meats & Catering

A St. Louis institution for nearly eight decades, Kenrick’s has a wide range of Thanksgiving offerings for those not interested in DIY turkey (including those famous New Orleans-style turduckens). It also offers customers Buttonwood Farms fresh turkey pre-orders at $4.99 per pound that range between 15 and 21 pounds. Orders must be placed by November 22. And don’t forget to add the shop’s signature mac and cheese with bacon or White Castle stuffing to the order. 4324 Weber.

Local Harvest Grocery

This Tower Grove South bastion of local cuisine is offering pasture-raised, fresh Broad Breasted White turkeys from both Buttonwood Farms and Double Star Farms. Customers can choose a small, medium, or large whole bird at $4.99 per pound or half or whole turkey breasts at $9.99 per pound. Orders must be placed by November 17 and pick up on either November 23 or 26. As a bonus, the store is partnering with Sugaree Baking Company, which will make a wonderful end to your Thanksgiving meal. 3108 Morganford.

Smokehouse Market

An embarrassment of culinary riches, Smokehouse Market is sourcing fresh Amish free-range turkeys that range between 16 and 20 pounds. The price is $6.99 per pound; order deadline and pickup arrangement questions can be made by contacting the store. Straub’s

St. Louis’ essential gourmet grocery store is offering free-range, fresh turkeys from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, at $4.99 per pound in a wide range of sizes. Ordering is now open through November 21  for pickup between November 23-27. Multiple locations.

Truffles Butchery

The butcher shop arm of Ladue mainstay Truffles is sourcing fresh turkeys from Buttonwood Farms. Birds typically range in size between 16 and 26 pounds. Contact the shop for order and pricing details. 9202 Clayton.
