As if you needed a reason, National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is upon us. The delicious holiday of sorts happens the first Saturday in February and is cause for much rejoicing. St. Louis scoop shops are leaning in most deliciously.

If one day’s not enough (and it isn’t) then head for The Fountain on Locust. The Midtown restaurants offers notable ice cream options all year long, but this weekend is special. It will have waffles, parfaits, and lattes made with ice cream. The restaurant adds, “Bonus points if you show up in PJs.” 3037 Locust.
Liquid nitrogen makes some things worse and many things—ice cream, in particular—much better. Ices Plain & Fancy has a whole custom menu planned for Saturday, including long John sandwiches, Irish coffee ice cream (for the grownups), an OJ sorbet, and more. The Central West End location will be participating for the seventh year running. Fan favorite Maple Soaked Pancakes returns for a limited run. The first 50 Splendid Rewards members to the shop get a mug. And 10 customers who take a selfie at the scoop shop in their jammies will win a year of free ice cream—four pints a month. Since 2020, the Pioneer Bakery Café has been providing service industry training to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. (Its partner, McArthur’s Bakery, has you covered for king cakes as well.) The bakery is opening its ice cream bar at 7 a.m., and you can pair the Cedar Crest Ice Cream offerings with waffles or gooey butter cake. 210 N. Kirkwood.
