The Lucky Accomplice to close on New Year’s Eve

Chef-owner Logan Ely has other plans for the space in 2025.

In a social media post published Saturday evening, Logan Ely, chef-owner of The Lucky Accomplice (2501 S. Jefferson) announced that the Fox Park restaurant would be closing at year’s end.

The post read, in full, “Our last service as The Lucky Accomplice concept as know you it, will be on New Year’s Eve. There are a lot of ideas on the table for that space and our group for 2025 and we will share them in due time. We are equally excited for the rest of this year as well as what 2025 will bring for our corner on South Jefferson. We’re going to have a lot of fun over the coming weeks and hope you can join us as we give Lucky a proper send off. Thanks everyone, can’t wait to see you.”

Ely noted that the reservation book is open now and “they will go quickly, including New Year’s Eve.”

Ely added that he was excited about the “ideas and collaborations planned for 2025 for that space, for that block, and beyond.” No other details were provided, including the fate of Press (2509 S. Jefferson), the innovative stuffed pizza and fresh pasta concept  that Ely and his team introduced next door to The Lucky Accomplice in August 2022.

Reached this morning, Ely tells SLM that The Lucky Accomplice lease is ending, that closing “is the right thing to do right now, a good thing overall,” and that “fun possibilities” are in store.

More as we learn it.

The Backstory

After opening the critically acclaimed Shift (formerly Savage) in 2018, chef Logan Ely introduced The Lucky Accomplice in September 2020, a more relaxed, neighborhood-friendly spot launched during the Covid pandemic. While Shift gained recognition for its bold and innovative dishes, earning a spot in Bon Appétit’s list of the nation’s 50 best new restaurants in 2019, The Lucky Accomplice took a more casual approach, allowing Ely to keep a lower profile and sidestep what SLM described as “the pomp, circumstance, and attention of a tasting menu setup that placed him center stage.”

The Lucky Accomplice created a playful menu with whimsical takes on familiar dishes, including the Everything Tater Tot (pictured at right)—a deep-fried, grated russet potato disk topped with everything bagel ingredients—and the way-bigger-than-your-head toasted ravioli (see lead image). These dishes are “recognizable, beautiful, hilarious, and tasty,” Ely told SLM, and captured the playful spirit of the Fox Park restaurant.

Thanks in part to chef de cuisine Justin Bell and beverage director Corey Moszer, brunch service became an instant weekend favorite when introduced in 2021. The restaurant shifted to a tasting menu format in 2023, and currently it offers both a seven-course tasting menu and an à la carte service, but has discontinued brunch service. The Lucky Accomplice is open Thursday through Saturday nights from 5 to 10 p.m.
