When SLM announced almost exactly a year ago that Shake Shack was finally coming to St. Louis, founder Danny Meyer, a former St. Louisan and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, said he was “thrilled that Shake Shack has at last found a home in my hometown.” Meyer told SLM the restaurant would be located on the ground floor of the $32 million, five-story building under construction at 32 N. Euclid in the Central West End.
Today, SLM learned there could soon be another Shake Shack in Meyer’s hometown.

A second spot is under consideration at the northwest corner of Phase 1 of Ballpark Village, next to The Fudgery (No. 9, at right). Construction documents for “Shack #1241” have been generated, and at least some are out to bid, which is a positive step but doesn’t indicate a commitment on either side. Restaurants routinely bid projects to gauge their affordability and viability, before any leases are signed, which may be the case here.
A Shake Shack representative would not comment on the possibility of a Ballpark Village location.
If a deal could be struck fairly quickly, however, it’s possible that the second location could be first to open, considering the space is already built and just waiting for a tenant.
The Shake Shack official did confirm that the location in the Central West End, which was originally slated for completion this summer, will open its doors later due to construction delays.
