The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis is taking holiday gingerbread baking to the next level. The hotel recently unveiled a giant edible tree made out of gingerbread.

The five-level tree reaches the ceiling chandelier in the lobby and features holiday scenes from across the globe. Kangaroos, pyramids, and Santa Claus on a snowboard are just a few of the sugar-made figures found on the tree.

Perhaps as a shock to no one, a generous amount of sugar, butter, and eggs went into the creation of the tree. It comprises 75 pounds of flour, 100 eggs, 50 pounds of powdered sugar, 25 pounds of butter, 15 pounds of egg whites, 10 pounds of molasses, and 3 pounds each of ginger and cinnamon.

The tree is available to the public through December 29. The Ritz is giving visitors an option to personalize a gingerbread ornament for the tree for $15, and one hundred percent of proceeds will be donated to the St. Louis Ronald McDonald House.
