The menu, which is completely halal, merges Palestinian and American flavors. It features a variety of sandwiches, burgers, wings, chicken tenders, fish, salads, and loaded nachos, as well as hummus and falafel, which are made from scratch in house.

“We have gotten incredible feedback on our signature Pali Sauce, which we make onsite,” owner Ahmed Hasan says of the mayo-based sauce. “It pairs well with all of our options but especially well with our signature Pali Burger.”

The menu also features traditional Arabian breakfast items, available throughout the day. “We are thrilled to be one of—if not the only restaurant in the area—to offer an all-day, full spread of traditional Palestinian breakfast options,” says Hasan. Options include hummus, falafel, fried veggies, fuul (stewed, spiced fava beans), and bandoora maqliya (fried tomatoes).

Amera Mustafa, Hasan’s wife, recommends Beidh and Batata, scrambled eggs with fried potato cubes and light seasoning. “Beidh is Arabic for ‘egg,’ and Batata is Arabic for ‘potato,’” she explains. “The dish itself is a breakfast staple across many countries, because it’s so simple and filling.”

The menu also features a range of drinks, including Pali Soda and Lemon Mint Juice.

The spacious dining room seats approximately 50 and is decorated with a local artist’s mural, with illustrations of various dishes.

“I have always enjoyed the idea of food bringing people together,” says Hasan, “and the joy it brings them.”

The Backstory

Hasan was raised in Palestine. As a teenager, he worked at a dessert shop, where he learned to make traditional sweets, such as kenafa. Hasan eventually moved to the U.S. to further his education. “I also currently run a gas station, where we’ve had great success in our kitchen making sandwiches, chicken, and more. We even created our own pizza brand,” he says.

Hasan saw an opportunity in the St. Louis market to serve up American favorites alongside Middle Eastern flavors, ensuring the menu is halal to cater to the Muslims community. With encouragement from family and friends, Pali Grill was born.

In addition to his wife, Hasan is joined by his brother and brother-in-law. “We had a vision of combining a bit of our Palestinian homeland and a bit of our new home in America,” says Hasan. “We have worked hard bringing this vision to the St. Louis community, and we hope customers experience great food, a welcoming environment, and a little bit of Palestine.”
