Now Open: Nourish by Hollyberry in Warson Woods

Nourish by Hollyberry is the latest cafe that does more. Like Central Table Food Hall, Local Harvest Cafe, and Annie Gunn’s before it, there’s also a fresh to-go market and catering. Owner Holly Cunningham has worked in the catering industry for fifteen years, so she knew the business well enough to spot a need in the community.

“We’re trying to be that go-to for busy families,” she says. “We came up with the idea of trying to help people reclaim that time and get a meal that fits their needs—family’s needs, entertaining needs, or both.”

Cunningham says this idea has been in the works for at least five years. She’s seen friends do similar things in different cities, and although there are comparable concepts in St. Louis, but they needed customers to plan ahead with time busy families just don’t have.

The space at 10037 Manchester Road includes a warehouse, kitchen, market, and cafe–and plenty of room for her catering business, Hollyberry Catering (which Cunningham says was “bursting at the seams” at its old location). For decor, she collaborated with St. Louis design house Anew Nature, which builds and restores furniture with the help of at-risk, unemployed men.

“The cafe is really meant to be this cozy spot. It almost feels like a second home—it’s a little eclectic, with comfortable furniture, vintage pieces and modern pieces designed by Anew Nature,” she says. “They’re really helping to serve St. Louis, and they also do amazing custom work. It’s been a neat experience to develop this space.”

The menu was developed with about 80 friends and colleagues that Cunningham used as a focus group. You’ll find simple soups as well as “fancier” things you would serve at a catered party. The cafe doesn’t necessarily serve everything that’s available in the market, but rather complements items like local Billy Goat chips with house-made dip or flatbread with Nourish hummus.

Nourish by Hollyberry has been open for about two weeks, and Cunningham says they plan to add a delivery service soon. The current hours are below:
