Jake Hafner (above), owner of Civil Life Brewing Company, announced this morning the brewery has acquired the property just to the north of the flagship brewhouse and taproom on Holt Avenue.
Hafner has been in negotiations with the former owners since late 2014. The spot, formerly occupied by St. Louis Auto Body will allow the popular craft brewery to expand operations in the near future.
The brewery is currently at 55-percent of full production capacity. The acquisition gives the craft brewery options for growth.
“We will begin demolition of the building in spring of 2015,” Hafner says. “If draft sales improve in St. Louis we will consider an expansion.”
As with all major decisions, Hafner will consider his next moves carefully. He’s bootstrapped the financing of operations to date without outside investors and without taking on debt. The first order of business will be to use the space for additional parking for the popular taproom this winter. We’ll keep you posted as plans develop.
