4 Hands Brewing Co. has entered the aged spirits game. In conjunction with sister company 1220 Artisan Spirits, the brewery has announced that it will be introducing a new line of aged spirits this October: Withered Oak.
The first two releases will be a five-year straight bourbon whiskey and a five-year rye whiskey, which will be available at 4 Hands brewery (1220 S. 8th) beginning October 8 at 4 p.m., as Withered Oak takes over the first floor of the space. A limited amount of bottles will be available to purchase exclusively at the brewery. The whiskeys will also be served at select local establishments every Wednesday starting October 13 and running through December 20. Additionally, the new line will be featured at mobile bar STLBarkeep, which is frequently at the Tower Grove Farmers' Market.
The whiskeys were the result of a creative partnership with MGP Ingredients, which resulted in the flavor profiles the new brand will be offering.
“We wanted to choose from the finest catalogue of whiskey in the world and build a brand with integrity around it. MGP is the best partner for that," 4 Hands president Kevin Lemp said in a statement. “I like to trust talented people to express themselves. You can’t be in this business if you don’t value that. With the quality of the liquid in the barrels to start, combined with our team’s time and passion to finesse the finished product, we are thrilled to launch a sophisticated product like Withered Oak in the aged spirits space.”
A third whiskey, a four-year blended rye, is set to be released this winter.
