It turns out Vogue is really into St. Louis—or, at least, one of its contributors digs the Gateway City.
In a travel article titled "An Insider’s Guide to the Magic of St. Louis, Missouri," the iconic fashion magazine sings the region's praises, calling out local restaurants, bars, boutiques, hotels and museums worthy of a trip to the Midwest.
The article's author, Dawn Sturmon, formerly worked in the entertainment and media industry in New York and Los Angeles. She's now on the board of the Saint Louis Fashion Fund and calls St. Louis her adopted hometown.
"No longer just a beacon for baseball and beer fans, this Midwestern city is home to vibrant communities of adventurous designers and artists, startups, and co-working spaces," she writes.
Sturmon goes on to call out such restaurants as Winslow's Home, Union Loafers, and The Clover and The Bee, as well as 2017 SLM Restaurateur of the Year Zoë Robinson's establishments. Sturmon also gives a nod to favorite watering holes, such as Planter's House, Brennan's, and Taste.
When it comes to shopping, she recommends quaint vintage shop May's Place, Fauxgerty, Bowood Farms, and Civil Alchemy.
And, of course, Sturmon calls out such classic destinations as Forest Park, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and The Chase Park Plaza.
"The city’s urban hang-outs rival the cool magic of those in my beloved former cities," she writes.
