A new plant shop has sprouted up next door to Jeni’s Ice Cream on Euclid Avenue.
On October 1, the CWE North Business Community Improvement District welcomed Drips Botanical Elements to the neighborhood with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The nursery sells unique and common plants, small terrariums, gifts, and garden accessories.

The store concept began as a coffee and plant store 12 years ago in Omaha, Nebraska. After facing a number of challenges, including damage caused by a flood and the lingering effects of Covid-19 on small businesses, owner Tres Johnson decided to close coffee operations and focus solely on selling plants.

Johnson, who is originally from Cape Girardeau, lived in St. Louis in the early 90s and worked for a time at Left Bank Books, which is down the street from the new store. For the past few years, he and his girlfriend Becki Murabito had made it a tradition to travel every year from Omaha to St. Louis to attend the annual Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden. They fell in love with the city and decided to pack up the business and move.
“We want [the business] to keep growing,” says Johnson. “We adapt as we have to.”

Located at 387 N. Euclid, Drips Botanical is located in an Edwardian-style inspired space. Its inventory includes a variety of plants, from tropicals to succulents, and a large selection of San Pedro variety cactus and Euphorbia, also known as spurges, a fluffy type of foliage, and the owners’ personal favorite. Shoppers can also stop in and peruse the plant accessories, handmade pottery, plant stands, jewelry, and more.
“Drips Botanical brings a unique shopping experience unlike any other in the neighborhood,” says Kate Haher, executive director of the CWE Business Community Improvement District. “They are the latest business to open in the CWE, adding to the eclectic nature that the neighborhood is known for.”
The store is open Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
